Apple Maps won me over in the car
The journey from the open road to the home office is a story about how technology and personal shifts reshape our professional lives.
For about five years, my career was rooted in the dynamic world of field sales engineering and business development management. This role demanded mobility; some weeks, that meant logging over 1,000 miles between customer visits. In that era, navigation was a necessity, and Google Maps was the undisputed champion, guiding almost every one of those long drives. It was the essential tool everyone relied on, including me, to connect the dots and get from point A to point B.
That era was defined by physical presence and the tangible reality of mileage.
However, life—and work—eventually nudged a change. Since 2022, I have transitioned fully to working from home, a shift that fundamentally altered my relationship with the road.
While my daily mileage looks dramatically different now, the experience of those years taught me a crucial lesson about the power of adaptation. One habit, born out of necessity, eventually flipped along the way, proving that the most effective navigation isn’t always found on a screen, but within a changed perspective.
