Even in the world of high-stakes extraction shooters, the psychology of the player base is proving just as fascinating as the gameplay itself. The developers of Arc Raiders recently shared some compelling data straight from the studio, illuminating a surprisingly strong appetite for cooperative and PvE experiences among their dedicated community.

This insight comes as the studio announced plans for a PvE toggle test slated for release next month. The numbers reveal a dynamic and diverse player population, showcasing a clear desire for variety beyond pure competitive conflict.

When looking at the player breakdown, the community is neatly divided into three distinct groups. The largest segment consists of 37% friendly co-op players, a group that has demonstrated consistent growth since the game’s launch. Alongside this, 27% of players fall into the mixed category, suggesting a willingness to explore different playstyles.

The remaining segment is comprised of 34% of pure PvP players, a group that has maintained stability throughout the game’s lifespan. Yet, even within this competitive core, the demand for a shift in experience is undeniable.

The true shift in player preference emerges when we look at what these players want. Embark reported that the desire for less intense hostility is a significant factor. Specifically, over 70% of friendly players expressed a wish for fewer hostile encounters.

This trend extends to the competitive side as well: 40% of PvP players similarly expressed a desire for a reduction in hostile encounters.

Perhaps most telling is the consensus on dedicated content. A substantial 51% of the surveyed playerbase has voiced an interest in a completely dedicated PvE option. This suggests that while the extraction shooter format thrives on tension and PvP action, the appetite for cooperative, less hostile gameplay is robust and actively seeking new avenues for the community.
