Asus launches ROG Ally X20 with OLED and Ryzen AI

Asus has unveiled the ROG Xbox Ally X20, marking a significant step forward for the handheld gaming market. Designed to celebrate the brand’s 20th anniversary, this new device packs cutting-edge specifications and a premium aesthetic, setting a new benchmark for portable performance.

At the heart of the X20 is powerful new silicon. It is powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, ensuring high-end performance while leveraging the latest AI capabilities. Visual fidelity is dramatically enhanced by a 7.4-inch OLED Nebula HDR display, which supports a variable refresh rate, offering fluid, vibrant gaming experiences unlike anything seen before.

Beyond raw power, Asus has focused heavily on the tactile experience. The X20 features a translucent black shell accented with gold, giving it a sleek, premium look. The thermal management has been revised, featuring updated cooling hardware and a larger heatsink to manage heat effectively. The input system has also been completely overhauled, introducing magnetic TMR joysticks, a D-pad that can switch between four-way and eight-way modes, flush face buttons, and satisfying haptic impulse triggers.

For those looking to expand their gaming horizon, Asus offers an enticing bundle that includes the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR glasses. These glasses introduce a truly immersive visual experience, featuring a 240Hz micro-OLED panel, a 57-degree field of view, and native 3DoF tracking, seamlessly blending the physical world with digital overlays.

The package also includes accessories designed for serious users, such as a dbrand Killswitch case and a Pelican hard case. This bundle provides an end-to-end solution for the enthusiast, offering both a powerful portable console and advanced augmented reality technology.

Software integration is equally refined through the Armory Crate Special Edition. Users gain access to Default Game Profile 2.0, which allows for quick wattage adjustments, and a Travel Mode that limits charging to 65W for extended use. Furthermore, users can remap shortcut keys, toggle between Native and Vivid HDR profiles, and access preview features through an opt-in channel, offering deep customization.

The ROG Xbox Ally X20 is available starting at $1,299, while the complete bundle, including the AR glasses and accessories, is priced at $2,499. This launch positions the device not just as a handheld, but as a complete, premium ecosystem ready for the next generation of immersive gaming.
