Microsoft Streamlines Copilot: Three Features Set to Retire
Microsoft is making some big changes to the consumer Copilot experience, announcing that three key features will be retired from the app starting tomorrow, August 18th. This move is part of a broader strategic effort to unify the consumer and Microsoft 365 Copilot applications into a single, streamlined experience.
This consolidation signals a shift in how users interact with Copilot, integrating the consumer tools more closely with the professional Microsoft 365 suite. This wider merge has already introduced some changes, notably placing some of Copilot‘s most powerful research capabilities behind a subscription.
As part of the transition, Microsoft is phasing out specific functionalities within the consumer Copilot app. The features scheduled for retirement include Podcasts, Consumer Deep Research, and Group Chats.
These removals reflect the company’s goal to focus the Copilot experience by merging functionalities across its offerings. The changes aim to create a more cohesive and focused platform for all users interacting with AI assistance.
