Cairn’s Deep Water DLC Release Date is set Don’t Wait
For those of us who find solace and thrill in the vertical world of climbing, waiting for new content can feel like an eternity. But the waiting is almost over. The survival climbing game Cairn is gearing up for a major expansion, and the first taste of this fresh content is landing just a month away.
The developers have announced that the first free expansion, On the Trail: Deep Water, will be launching on October 29, 2026. This isn’t just a small add-on; it’s the beginning of a series of free expansions designed to deepen the experience for all players.
What makes this new DLC particularly exciting is the environment it introduces. Players will unlock three brand new climbing locations, including the breathtaking cliffs of Haken and Ruka, where they can ascend overhangs directly above the water.
Adding a layer of unique risk and reward, the water itself provides an unexpected element of safety. Falling into the water comes with no consequences, meaning solo expeditions can be wild and free of pressure, allowing players to truly embrace the adventure without fear of harsh penalties.
Beyond the scenic vistas, the DLC introduces new training grounds, such as the Lamu climbing gym, offering alternative environments to test and hone climbing skills. For those who prefer a more controlled setting, this offers a fresh challenge.
The gameplay depth continues with new character dynamics. Players will have the opportunity to switch between characters, such as Marco and Aava, to explore how their respective climbing styles interact in the new environments. Furthermore, a new free roam mode will be introduced, giving players the freedom to reload saves on the mountain, practice routes, and discover brand new climbing paths.
If you are ready to dive into this aquatic adventure, now is the perfect time. The base game Cairn is currently available with a 20% discount on Steam until September 26. Make sure you secure the base game and wishlist the upcoming On the Trail: Deep Water DLC to be ready for its release next month.
