Control Resonant sells 1 million copies in 3 weeks
Control Resonant Hits a Milestone, Signaling a New Era for Remedy Entertainment
Remedy Entertainment has officially hit a major sales milestone, announcing that their title Control Resonant has surpassed one million copies sold. This achievement isn’t just a number; it cements the game’s status as the fastest-selling title in Remedy Entertainment’s 31-year history, eclipsing even the massive success of Alan Wake 2, which took two months to reach that mark.
While one million sales is a solid achievement, the true measure of game momentum is often how quickly you cross that finish line. In the hyper-speed world of modern gaming, where titles like Subnautica 2 sold two million copies in just 12 hours, and Wardogs achieved a million sales in a single day, the recent pace for Control Resonant—taking three weeks—is nonetheless a potent indicator of audience engagement.
Despite these impressive sales figures, Remedy has historically faced a hurdle: translating critical acclaim into massive, sustained financial growth. Even celebrated titles like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 have taken significant time to achieve profitability. This focus on the bottom line became the paramount concern for the company.
This challenge has led to a significant shift in leadership. In February, Jean-Charles Gaudechon took the helm as the company’s new CEO, tasked with steering Remedy toward a phase of profitable growth. Chairman Henri Österlund noted that this appointment was specifically designed to scale the company in a way that builds lasting value.
Gaudechon’s initial reaction to the success of Control Resonant has been highly positive. He views the million-copy milestone as a very strong start, emphasizing that the game successfully captured the essence of Remedy’s unique style while drawing in both long-time fans and new players.
“Control Resonant is unmistakably Remedy,” Gaudechon stated. “This launch demonstrates what’s possible when we connect with our established fanbase while simultaneously bringing significant new players into the world of Control. With Control and Alan Wake as established franchises, our focus now is to build on what makes them special, support them, and grow them even further. There is a lot more to come from these worlds.”
The focus now shifts to leveraging this momentum. Remedy is poised to build upon the success of its established franchises, aiming to expand the world of Control and Alan Wake, and turn this recent sales success into a foundation for long-term, profitable growth.
