Craft furniture in Arc Raiders for hundreds of extra storage slots
When the Frozen Trail update arrived for Arc Raiders, many players were laser-focused on the high-octane action—upgrading their outposts and chasing those spicy weapon upgrades, like explosive bullets or incendiary shells. I, like many, spent most of my time ignoring the less glamorous side of outpost construction: the furniture.
I assumed the decorative aspects of building rooms and placing items on them were purely cosmetic. I was delightfully wrong. Crafting furniture within your Arc Raiders outpost unlocks a massive secret: hundreds of extra storage slots for items and weapons. This hidden mechanic transforms your base from a simple structure into a highly functional storage hub.
Unlocking this trove of storage requires a specific, somewhat involved process. It isn’t just about hitting a level; you need to engage with the environment to earn the blueprints. To begin this journey, you must first reach level 18 to initiate the Sheltered Retreat project.
The next steps involve a little bit of scavenging and destruction. Players must capture a picture of the Ruined Homestead, gather raw materials like planks and sheet metal, and then damage flying arc and a Bully to complete the necessary steps.
Once the foundations are laid, players can move in and recycle materials to obtain the necessary planks, allowing them to start crafting their custom furniture. This involves selecting an empty slot in your main outpost or building a new room to house the creations.
Each crafted piece of furniture comes with a defined number of storage slots. These pieces aren’t just for show; players can right-click and choose to Decorate the furniture, placing valuable items directly onto the surface. Beyond decorative placement, the system allows you to install functional additions like shelves and gun racks attached to the walls, in addition to standing storage units.
The efficiency boost is incredible. You can stack full item loads onto the furniture, and with a single right-click, you can quickly clear all attached items, returning them neatly to your main stash. This system effectively turns your outpost into a space where every inch is maximized for storage.
And the discovery doesn’t end there. Blueprints for these functional pieces are scattered across the world, often hidden in residential areas. Dedicated explorers have found plenty of plans in places like Pendola Pass’s Old Town. If you fully utilize the three rooms your outpost offers, filling them with these custom-crafted pieces, you unlock a whole heap of essential extra storage.
The only caveat to this rewarding process is that once your outpost is constructed, the rooms and layout are fixed. This means players must pick their furniture placement wisely, ensuring maximum storage potential before they start building.
