Cyberpunk 2077 unlocks Xbox Play Anywhere with 2.5 update
Night City Gets a Radical Overhaul: Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.5 Update Promises Dual-Wielding Mayhem and Endless Customization
The dystopian sprawl of Night City just got a serious upgrade. CD Projekt Red has dropped the full details for the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 2.5 update, arriving on October 22, 2026, and it brings a fresh wave of gameplay mechanics, stunning cosmetic options, and deep technical improvements for both home consoles and PC.
This isn’t just a routine patch; it’s a massive injection of new content designed to push players into even deeper, more chaotic experiences. At the heart of the update is a brand-new questline called Clampdown, which serves as a compelling prologue to the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. To unlock this side mission, players will need to complete The Heist and complete specific gigs for Wakako before receiving a crucial message.
But the action doesn’t stop there. Players get to redefine combat with the introduction of dual-wielding pistols and revolvers, unlocking an entirely new playstyle that lets you master the chaos of Night City. This is further enhanced by a new perk in the Cool tree, Double Trouble, which complements the dual-wielding ability, promising intense and satisfying gunplay.
Beyond the action, the world of Night City is now ripe for personal expression. A brand-new clothing collection has landed, offering five new outfit sets available across various districts like Heywood and Japantown. Players can also customize their cyberware with a plethora of new options, including the ability to equip weapons like the Mantis Blades or Gorilla Arms, and customize their implants with various Glamdocs that come with unique animations and skins.
For those who love to tinker, the update delivers significant mod support powered by mod.io. This cross-platform support now allows players to easily browse and install player-created modifications directly from the in-game menu, making the game even more malleable and personalized. Furthermore, the update introduces a new side quest, Welcome to Paradise, inviting players on a narrated guided tour of Night City and a journey to uncover hidden mysteries.
Quality of Life improvements are also packed into the package. Console players finally get an FOV (Field Of View) slider, which lets them adjust the first-person perspective to eliminate claustrophobia and make the experience feel more open. Performance enthusiasts will also benefit from enhanced technology, including support for DLSS 4.5, advanced Frame Generation options, and improved Ray Tracing and HDR rendering to deliver more accurate visuals across all compatible displays.
The update also introduces new sonic elements, featuring a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, filled with tracks from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series. With these additions, Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t just evolving its story; it’s expanding its world, deepening its mechanics, and offering endless ways for players to become legends in Night City.
