Director confirms FF7 end game content exists
The quest for ultimate challenge in the Final Fantasy series has always been a hallmark of the experience, but the way players access those difficult settings has seen some significant evolution. For the recent trilogy of Final Fantasy 7 games, players were required to master the game once just to unlock the coveted Hard mode, adding a layer of commitment to the challenge.
However, with the arrival of the final installment, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the developers have decided to shake up the established difficulty structure. Director Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that the traditional Hard mode system is being completely reimagined to align with the new game design, promising a fundamentally reworked high-difficulty option.
This change isn’t just a cosmetic adjustment; it fundamentally alters how players approach the narrative and gameplay. Hamaguchi explained that the new system “won’t function in the exact same way,” signaling a departure from previous mechanics and paving the way for a more fluid, integrated difficulty experience.
One of the most welcome changes for players is the ability to select Hard mode right from the very start of the game. This removes the necessity of completing the main story a second time simply to access the most demanding level.
The reasoning behind this decision is deeply tied to the scope of Revelation itself. Hamaguchi noted that the new game “offers a wide variety of endgame content” that is now accessible even after finishing the main story. This shift suggests that the primary focus of the experience is moving beyond linear progression into truly expansive, rewarding endgame exploration.
This move marks a historic moment for the franchise, as it appears to be the first significant hint of a true ‘end game’ for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. It suggests that the main narrative is simply the starting point, with even more deep and lingering content waiting for players once they have explored the world.
