You need the Banyan’s Heart in Phantom Blade Zero to unlock some of the game’s most sought-after skills, like Fluid Form Level 2, Quick Remedy, or the Opening Strike. But hunting these powerful artifacts isn’t just about luck; it requires a specific quest in the Crimson Forest.

To claim your first Banyan Heart, you must navigate to the end of the Crimson Forest area, specifically after activating the Parting Mists bell and defeating Stone Fist Iron Fever. It is a moment you simply cannot miss: drop down from the bell and head across to the island with the tree directly ahead of you. Interact with it to be transported into The Banyan Tree’s trial realm.

This journey culminates in a three-wave encounter, with the final boss being Jing Ye, the bleed bandit. He is certainly a memorable opponent. If you want to secure that precious Heart, preparing for Jing Ye is key. Equip the Cavalrybane accessory you find in the Crimson Forest for extra damage when he’s mounted, and grab the Shieldbreaker talisman from Weeping Creek Valley to quickly shatter his shield. Be mindful of the environment; draw him away from the other spawned enemies, dodge his bleed projectiles (which still build bleed), and use your Dread Axe Phantom Edge to smash his shield, charging a full attack the moment he falls from his horse.

If the fight proves too challenging, be assured that video guides are available, but the reward is worth the effort. Once Jing Ye is vanquished, the Banyan Heart is yours.

The quest doesn’t end there. Obtaining your first Heart triggers the collection of the Heart of the Banyan quest, which leads you to four other magnificent Banyan Trees scattered across the world. The second tree awaits you in Pangzhen during its second chapter, near the Lion Dance Hall in the northwest. The third tree is located close to the start of the Mandate Encampment. The fourth heart is found on an island within Meigu Lake, and the final tree is nestled in the Mountain of Imprisonment, accessible via the Illusory Pipa.

For those who prefer the merchant route, you can also acquire Banyan Hearts directly from Quickhand Zhang. At his den in the Village of Lu onwards, he seems to offer a new heart for each new den you discover, often tied into completing his various treasure hunts.

Mastering the quest for these hearts requires careful exploration and tactical execution, transforming a simple dungeon crawl into a rewarding pilgrimage through the world of Phantom Blade Zero.
