Flock Refines Search System with FBI Standards for Greater Precision
A major update has been implemented within the Flock system, significantly enhancing the way users initiate searches and ensuring that security data is tied to more precise information. This refinement addresses past limitations regarding the specificity of user-submitted search criteria.
Previously, users were required to type detailed explanations into an open text field to justify why they were conducting a search. However, the Flock team recognized that these open-ended entries were not always specific enough to provide the necessary context for effective security operations.
To resolve this, Flock has implemented a streamlined and more accurate approach. The open text field has been replaced entirely with a drop-down menu. This new system utilizes standardized categories derived directly from the FBI’s crime-reporting system.
This shift means that when users initiate a search, they are guided toward standardized, categorized parameters, leading to significantly more precise and actionable data for law enforcement and security personnel. By adopting these standardized categories, the system ensures that the information gathered is directly relevant and specific, improving the efficiency of the entire security process.
The integration of FBI crime-reporting standards into the search mechanism represents a smart move for technology aimed at public safety. It moves the system from relying on subjective user explanations to leveraging objective, standardized data, setting a new benchmark for how security technology handles location-based searching.
