Free to Play WUCHANG and Dead by Daylight this weekend

Forget the dreary approach of traditional Halloween frights. This year, the Xbox ecosystem is offering a chillingly diverse lineup of games designed to test your nerves and ignite your gaming passions during the spooky season. The secret lies in Xbox Free Play Days, a feature embedded within Xbox Game Pass that allows players to dive into a select roster of titles for a limited time, delivering massive value and unique horror experiences.

This week’s selection leans heavily into the spooky aesthetic, featuring titles that range from brutal action-RPGs to intense asymmetrical multiplayer horror. Among the highlights are WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, Dead by Daylight, the atmospheric indie gem Darkwood, and the cozy escape of Spirittea and the vastness of Everspace 2.

For those seeking a challenge, WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers delivers a demanding Soulslike experience. Players assume the role of a pirate warrior navigating monster-infested lands to combat a horrifying affliction. While reviews have praised its superb level design and brutal combat mechanics, the experience invites further exploration, especially for PC players who can utilize fan-made mods to bypass certain content restrictions.

Shifting gears to multiplayer terror, Dead by Daylight remains a perennial favorite. This asymmetrical horror game pits four survivors against a single, monstrous killer, offering a high-stakes social experience. Its popularity is amplified by its incredible ability to incorporate characters from beloved franchises like Diablo, Silent Hill, and Resident Evil, ensuring there is a killer narrative waiting for every fan.

The collection also throws in unique experiences to suit every mood. If you prefer atmospheric dread, Darkwood invites players to explore a haunted forest, forcing difficult choices that could shape the fate of those encountered. For a complete mood shift, there is Spirittea, a soothing bathhouse simulator perfect for unwinding. Meanwhile, space adventurers can set sail in Everspace 2>, a single-player space shooter offering endless exploration and action.

These Free Play Days offer a truly spectacular opportunity to sample a wide spectrum of gaming genres—from intense combat and multiplayer mayhem to deep atmospheric horror and cozy relaxation—all accessible for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Prepare yourselves, because this Halloween season is about to get a whole lot more terrifyingly fun.
