Genesis launch delayed to 2027

The wait is getting longer for fans of the infamous Jigsaw puzzles, as the highly anticipated horror game Saw Genesis has been pushed back from its planned Early Access release.

While the wider film franchise continues to churn out new content, the gaming world has seen a notable shift in the development timeline for a major horror title. Saw Genesis, which was slated to launch into Early Access this year, has been delayed significantly, pushing its arrival into the distant future.

This new delay affects a title that aims to blend the high-stakes tension of the Saw universe with the popular multiplayer mechanics seen in games like Dead by Daylight. The concept involves a unique co-op horror dynamic: one player takes on the role of the deadly Jigsaw (The Judge), while three other players must fight desperately to survive as The Accused.

What makes Saw Genesis stand out is its brutal commitment to the franchise’s themes. Unlike traditional survival games, players are not simply running from the killer; they face gruesome challenges where survival hinges on strategic sacrifice. The gameplay introduces mechanics where players might have to make agonizing choices, potentially sacrificing a limb to escape the clutches of Jigsaw.

The atmosphere is built around a tense, psychological struggle. The killer’s presence is designed to maximize dread, often hovering above the survivors, forcing them to navigate the environment while constantly being stalked and ambushed. This overhead perspective creates unique opportunities for surprise and forces players to master complex maneuvering around the map to stay alive.

Despite the promise of an engaging and unique horror experience, the timeline for players is now much further out. After a period of testing this summer, the game is no longer aiming for this year’s launch. Instead, development is now targeting a release window in the first quarter of 2027.

This shift signals that while the creative vision behind Saw Genesis remains compelling, the development team is prioritizing the depth and quality of the experience, ensuring that when the game finally arrives, it will deliver the intense, twisted horror that fans expect from the Saw legacy.
