GTA 5 becomes Pokémon Go using a mod
The pursuit of perfect simulation is a hobby that often leads to spectacular chaos. For one dedicated modder, the goal wasn’t just to play Grand Theft Auto 5; it was to fundamentally transform Los Santos, attempting to either forge a PC version of GTA 6 or simply break the established rules of the world entirely. After a week immersed in the digital sandbox, the results are far more bizarre—and much more entertaining—than the initial plan.
The initial hurdle was physics; attempting to transition the game required mastering the brutal reality that most elements simply cease to exist if subjected to velocities that exceed the speed of sound. But as the experimentation continued, the focus shifted from breaking the game to redefining its narrative. I realized that the core of Los Santos, while thrilling, felt profoundly isolating. The protagonists—Franklin, Michael, and Trevor—were cruising sun-drenched highways as lonely figures, utterly devoid of true companionship.
The solution, it turned out, was not more explosives or cars, but new friends. The objective became injecting companionship into the crew, giving them the best companions imaginable, because no one else seemed to fit the bill.
To achieve this, I installed the Pokémon Go GTA Edition”>Pokémon Go GTA Edition mod, which completely overhauled the cityscape. Suddenly, the streets were no longer populated by crowds of pedestrians; instead, they were denuded of human life and filled with Geodudes, Charmandi, and Pikachu. While I never managed to catch the elusive Pikachu, I did manage to capture a Squirtle, and I’m fairly certain that only Trevor possessed the necessary instinct to embark on this new, Pokémon-filled hunt.
The introduction of these new companions, however, was not without dramatic consequences. Some creatures, it seems, resist the concept of friendship. Charmander, for example, decided to break free of its Pokéball and started lecturing me in a thick Eastern European accent, much like the anime. The resulting road encounter quickly turned into a physical confrontation. The dispute ended with a powerful right hook delivered to Charmander’s snout, leaving the little fire Pokémon fainted on the tarmac.
This chaotic blend of high-speed action and unexpected friendships proves that modifying a digital world isn’t just about changing the scenery; it’s about finding the unexpected relationships hiding in plain sight. Los Santos, it seems, was never truly lonely—it just needed a little bit of Pokémon magic to find its true companions.
