Marathon update delayed to December non-seasonal structure

This strategic change impacts the game’s roadmap, pushing the anticipated Season 3 launch—which was set for September 22nd—to a later date. Instead of a traditional seasonal cadence, Bungie is moving towards greater flexibility, allowing the development team more time to build, test, and refine features before they reach the players.
The new plan means that much-anticipated content will now arrive as part of the upcoming Symbiosis update on December 8th. This adjustment reflects a desire to ensure that future updates meet player expectations, rather than adhering rigidly to fixed seasonal deadlines.

October is set to bring a refresh focused on stability and engagement, introducing a progression and economy reset, a new Rewards Pass, quality-of-life improvements, live tuning, and exciting balance updates.
Adding to the excitement, the experimental PvE mode, Vault Breaker, is set to make a limited return. This will provide valuable data on how PvE fits into the game’s progression following a reset, deepening the interaction between player progress and world exploration.
The true game-changer, however, is what lies ahead in December. The Symbiosis update is positioned as the first major step in Marathon’s next chapter, introducing a permanent PvE experience.
