Marvel Tōkon beta start time and full gameplay details
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Beta Arrives with a Roster Shortage
For those of us who appreciate beautifully rendered superhero action, the anticipation for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls has been palpable. While some of us are usually more drawn to other genres, this title promises a unique blend of epic storytelling and stunning combat mechanics that has set a high bar. Now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is here: access to the open beta.
The opportunity to dive into the action is scheduled for three days on PC and PS5, running from Friday, July 24, until Sunday, July 26. To make sure everyone can jump in from anywhere, the beta will be live across various time zones globally, ensuring that fighting enthusiasts everywhere have a chance to test the new experience.
Access is simple: players can download the open beta via Steam or the Epic Games Store on PC, or directly on PlayStation, up to two hours before the playtest begins. Getting ready for the chaos starts now!
The Roster Dilemma
While the beta offers significantly more content than any previous closed testing session, it’s important to note that while the roster is expanding, a few key players are still missing. This means some of your favorite teams will come with a slight roster gap:
- Fighting Avengers: Captain America, Iron Man, and Black Panther are in, but the Hulk—a formidable ally—is conspicuously absent.
- Unbreakable X-Men: Storm, Magik, Wolverine, and Danger are available for combat, leaving some beloved members missing.
- Amazing Guardians: Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and Peni Parker are ready to battle.
- Samurai Outriders: Blade and Ghost Rider are included, but the notorious Deadpool and Loki are out of the picture.
- Knights of Doom: Doctor Doom, Magneto, and Green Goblin can clash, though Carnage remains on the sidelines.
World and Modes
Beyond character selection, players will also have access to six distinct stages across which they can test their skills. These environments include Marvel’s New York (Day and Night), Savage Land, the X-Mansion, Knowhere, and Wakanda.
The gameplay modes are designed for maximum engagement. Players will be able to experience both competitive and social elements during the beta:
- Ranked Play: Test your dominance by climbing the ladder and proving your mettle.
- Open Lobby: Connect with other players, select avatars, and even challenge them directly using arcade cabinets.
- Episode Mode: For the first time, explore the story through the first three chapters of the narrative, including fully illustrated motion comic cutscenes that enhance the action.
