Massive Entertainment is here: Splinter Cell Ghost Recon and more

The landscape of Ubisoft’s creative operations is undergoing a significant shift, signaling a strategic move to unify its massive portfolio of intellectual property. The Creative House 2 division has been rebranded as Massive Entertainment, bringing together studios from across Sweden, Paris, Toronto, and Montreal under a single, focused umbrella.

This new structure aims to centralize creative direction and technological pipelines across Ubisoft’s most iconic franchises, including the celebrated Tom Clancy series. The goal is to move away from semi-independent studio operations toward a unified team, ensuring that the development of major titles benefits from shared priorities and streamlined execution.

At the heart of this reorganization is a focus on shaping the “next generation” of these franchises and fostering the growth of new intellectual properties. Christoph Hartmann, who now oversees Massive Entertainment, stated that this consolidation is about creating a powerful engine that can support both existing commitments and future gaming ambitions.

For fans of classic titles like Splinter Cell, this shift means that the franchise is now operating within a broader, multi-franchise ecosystem rather than as a clearly defined standalone endeavor with its own dedicated leadership. While the core creative teams remain dedicated to their existing commitments, the structural change places the Splinter Cell project firmly within a larger strategic framework.

Despite this organizational reshaping, indications suggest that the anticipation surrounding the Splinter Cell remake continues. Ubisoft is actively hiring for foundational roles within the team, which keeps the project moving forward. However, the absorption into the wider Massive Entertainment structure means the path to release is now tied to the successful execution of this new, unified creative strategy.
