Moon Studios head dismisses Ori 3 rumors
The gaming world is constantly buzzing with speculation, and the recent chatter surrounding a potential sequel to the beloved Ori adventure has no exception. Rumors swept through online communities suggested that Microsoft might have quietly greenlit a new Ori title, with development allegedly being handed off to another studio. This kind of fan anticipation is natural, especially when talking about masterpieces of platforming and emotional storytelling.
However, when faced with this buzz, the official word from Moon Studios CEO Thomas Mahler was swift and definitive. Mahler has dismissed the speculation, labeling the Ori 3 rumors as “nonsense.” He added that even the creative team has not heard any official word regarding a follow-up.
Despite the fan desire for more of the Ori universe, Mahler offered a glimpse behind the curtain, suggesting that the team remains ready for the next chapter. He indicated that if Microsoft provided the necessary go-ahead, Moon Studios would “do it in a heartbeat” to bring a third game to life.
For now, the focus remains squarely on the current projects that are actively in development. Moon Studios is currently channeling its energy into No Rest for the Wicked, an action RPG that has captivated players during its Early Access phase.
No Rest for the Wicked is slated to hit version 1.0 in October for PC and PS5, with plans for expansion to other console platforms soon. The game has already proven its staying power, selling over 2 million copies during its time in Early Access.
While the door remains ajar for future Ori projects, the studio is currently committed to delivering the next major experience. The focus remains on building and refining their current acclaimed titles rather than chasing unconfirmed rumors.
