MSI unveils MEG EM9 open-frame test bench

MSI Unveils the MEG EM9: The New Frontier for Open-Air Hardware Testing

For hardware enthusiasts who crave complete control over their builds and the thermal performance of their components, the quest for the perfect testing environment is endless. Enter the MSI MEG EM9, a new open-air test bench designed to shatter those limitations and offer unparalleled access and cooling potential.

This compact yet powerful bench isn’t just a case; it’s a dedicated platform engineered for frequent hardware access and component swaps. Designed with the tinkerer in mind, the EM9 offers a practical footprint, measuring 336 by 358 by 239 millimeters, providing ample space without taking up excessive desk real estate.

The design is built for versatility, supporting a wide range of motherboard formats, including E-ATX, ATX, and Micro-ATX designs. MSI has ensured that this platform accommodates modern demands, offering practical features like built-in Power and Reset buttons for streamlined operation.

Beyond its size, the EM9 features eight horizontal expansion slots and dual 2.5-inch drive mounts, making it a highly functional hub for expanding storage and connectivity. This modular design allows users to easily integrate and swap out components as their testing needs evolve.

But the true star of the EM9 is its commitment to thermal performance. By embracing an open-air design, MSI has maximized the potential for cooling. The structure provides substantial room for heat dissipation, supporting up to 420mm liquid-cooling radiators, giving ambitious builders the freedom to push extreme thermal boundaries.

Unlike traditional enclosed cases, the EM9 sheds any unnecessary barriers. MSI has wisely chosen not to impose limits on component size, leaving the door wide open for users to select the largest CPUs, GPUs, and air coolers they desire, without restriction.

This focus on unrestricted space transforms the test bench from a mere enclosure into an expansive, customizable laboratory where thermal efficiency and component visibility are paramount. It is a testament to MSI’s belief that open design fosters superior performance and creative freedom.

The MEG EM9 is now available for pre-order in Taiwan at NT$2,590, with shipments slated to begin in October. While pricing and availability across other global markets are pending confirmation, the arrival of this new platform signals a significant step forward for hardware testing and enthusiast customization.
