MW4 Beta dates set for August Game Pass gets no special treatment
Get ready to mark your calendars because the anticipation is officially building for the next Call of Duty experience. While the full release of Modern Warfare 4 is slated for late October, Activision has dropped the beta dates, giving players plenty of time to dive into the action before launch.
Activision is kicking off the excitement with a two-part beta weekend designed to reward anticipation and provide broad access to the new content. The rollout strategy clearly separates those who pre-ordered from the general public, ensuring different experiences for everyone.
The first opportunity for early access rolls out on August 21th through the 25th. This exclusive weekend is reserved for those who pre-ordered Modern Warfare 4 on PC, PS5, or Xbox. It’s a five-day sprint to get you into the game and test your skills before the main event.
Following this pre-order window, the gates open wider for the public with the second beta weekend, running from August 28th to September 1st. This second phase opens up access across all major platforms, including the Switch 2, inviting a much larger audience to experience the game.
While the schedule follows a typical CoD pattern, there are a few interesting wrinkles in this year’s rollout. For instance, players on the Switch 2 will be observing a slightly different timeline, as they won’t be included in the initial pre-order weekend. Furthermore, the definition of a “weekend” is stretched; those who pre-ordered can jump right into the action as soon as the Next livestream goes live, bypassing some of the typical waiting.
Perhaps one of the most notable decision points revolves around subscription services. This year, Game Pass subscribers will not be eligible for early beta access. This marks a shift from previous titles like Black Ops 6 and 7, suggesting that access to the initial testing phase is being restricted across the board.
Beyond the dates and platform exclusivity, the content itself promises a rich and varied testing ground. Players will have the chance to unlock nineteen different weapons, allowing them to test their abilities in everything from small-scale 3v3 skirmishes to massive tactical battles involving tanks. New experimental modes, such as Kill Block, are also included, offering dynamic, modular maps that change gameplay on the fly.
Whether you are looking for competitive gunplay or deep map experimentation, the beta promises a full package. With new modes like Search & Destroy and the Training Mobility Course added to the mix, players will have ample opportunity to test their mettle across returning and brand-new features.
