Start Charting the Unknown DLC in Crimson Desert
The world of Crimson Desert is getting a major upgrade, and this isn’t just a simple story expansion—it’s a sprawling new frontier designed to let players explore, manage, and romance in unprecedented ways. The latest additions pack a punch, introducing complex systems for ocean exploration, deep social relationships, and sophisticated management challenges that promise endless adventure.
One of the most exciting new avenues is the vast expanse of the ocean. Players will soon embark on an epic journey across Pywel’s treacherous coast and uncharted islands, diving into a new storyline focused on sailing and exploration. To set sail, players must first complete specific milestones, starting with “Expanding the Camp” in Gathered Will during the “Grounds of the Sunrise” Greymane faction quest. Successfully completing this quest unlocks the quest to build your first ship, opening up a whole new dimension of discovery.
Shipbuilding itself is a major feature, offering meaningful choices in how players approach maritime travel. Depending on the player’s ambition, they can upgrade to a medium or large ship by accumulating significant camp funds, or opt for a different path involving the acquisition of specialized materials. This gives players high-stakes decisions about resources versus raw power.
Beyond the open sea, the expansion introduces a new layer of deep world engagement through the Garden of Trials. Once the main narrative is complete, players will unlock challenging combat encounters and new story quests. These quests invite players into hidden corners of the world, such as the Axiom Archive in the abyss, where they first encountered Alustin, and new adventures for characters like Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane in Pailune and Demeniss.
Intrigue and connection are central to the new content, with expanded romance systems designed to deepen player relationships with key NPCs. Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane now offer unique romantic paths. To pursue these relationships, players must build trust and likeability, interacting with them through specific menus before being able to propose. Furthermore, the four witches offer new faction quests that tie into these relationships, allowing players to build likeability and ultimately forge deeper bonds.
Management and habitation have also been overhauled. Players gain access to an upgraded housing mode and new facilities to manage. By liberating regions and completing faction-related quests, players can unlock new management options, including securing the Greymane Camp on Howling Hill and accessing various strongholds that can be rented and utilized as new management facilities, adding a whole new layer of strategic management to the world.
