State of Play brings new PS5 announcements

Instead of a single broadcast, the company is splitting the attention, offering two back-to-back streams: a main event focusing on PlayStation Studios and partners, followed immediately by a dedicated showcase for Japanese and Asian developers.
This unique dual presentation allows the community to catch both the global announcements and the deep-dive regional content in one sitting. The main State of Play event is scheduled for September 3rd, kicking off at 6am PT / 9am ET / 3pm CEST / 10pm JST. It promises updates from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners, culminating in an extended look at the latest from Square Enix, including the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy.
Following the main broadcast, Sony will transition directly into State of Play Japan, hosted once again by Yuki Kaji. This second stream is dedicated entirely to the vibrant landscape of Japanese and Asian game development, offering exclusive, deeper segments, new gameplay demonstrations, and fresh announcements from studios across the region.
The broadcast setup is designed to cater to everyone. The main State of Play will be delivered in English with Japanese subtitles, ensuring global access to the major reveals. Meanwhile, State of Play Japan will be presented in Japanese, accompanied by English subtitles, providing an immersive experience for regional audiences.
With the specialized Japan broadcast underway, expectations are high for regional hits. Speculation is already buzzing about the showcase content, with many anticipating exciting features from titles like Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen from Capcom. Furthermore, while the main show includes big names, there is also anticipation for major upcoming releases.
