This isn’t just another piece of compliance; it’s a declaration of visual supremacy. The certification validates that these advanced panels deliver “perfect” color and brightness accuracy when viewed under demanding real-world conditions, specifically maintaining precision regardless of ambient light up to 500 lux.
What does this mean for the viewer? Large-format panels, generally those measuring 48 inches or larger used in televisions, are now certified to accurately reproduce both color and brightness regardless of the viewing environment or the content being displayed. This standard addresses a remarkably challenging scenario—viewing an image in what is essentially a well-lit office, conference room, or kitchen setting.
LGD claims that this Intertek validation confirms 100% color accuracy and 100% brightness accuracy across the tested range. Crucially, the certification also addresses a notoriously tricky technical hurdle: color cross-talk. In OLED technology, managing how adjacent subpixels interact is complex, often leading to light bleeding or contamination between colors. Achieving a state of being “color cross-talk free” is considered an impressive feat, especially in advanced display production.
By successfully eliminating this form of internal contamination, LGD has demonstrated mastery over the physics of OLED design, pushing the boundaries of what is possible with these sophisticated panels.
While certification marks a major step forward, it’s worth noting the broader context of display standards. Unlike monitor technology, which benefits from strict standards like DisplayHDR and specific OLED variants, there was historically no standardized certification process for TV panels. This new Intertek validation fills that gap, providing a robust benchmark based on rigorous testing.
