Thermal Grizzly launches affordable Mycro Pro CPU blocks for AMD and Intel

Thermal Grizzly is continuing its impressive expansion of the liquid cooling ecosystem, bringing some highly anticipated new CPU water blocks to market. This latest addition, the Mycro Pro Stainless Steel series, is specifically designed to deliver high performance without breaking the bank, targeting builders who demand premium cooling solutions at an accessible price point.

The key innovation lies in the materials choice. Unlike many competitors that rely on nickel-plated copper, Thermal Grizzly has opted for an unplated copper cold plate paired with a durable stainless steel housing and an anodized aluminum mounting frame. This design choice is not just aesthetically pleasing; it is fundamentally about efficiency and cost reduction.

By eliminating the nickel-plating step, the company allows for more direct heat transfer from the CPU’s heatspreader into the coolant. This streamlining of the manufacturing process is what enables the Mycro Pro Stainless Steel to offer a significantly stronger price-to-performance ratio than its plated alternatives.

Under the hood, these blocks maintain Thermal Grizzly’s signature Ultra-High-Performance cold plate design, featuring finely tuned 0.2mm slot and fin widths. Performance is further maximized by the surface area: the AMD model utilizes 68 microfins, while the Intel version features 70 microfins, ensuring superior heat dissipation for demanding processors.

These blocks are built for broad compatibility, supporting both the AMD AM4/AM5 socket families and the Intel LGA1700/1851/1954 sockets. While these solutions offer exceptional cooling capabilities, it is important to note that they are designed for standard CPU cooling and are not intended for direct-die cooling applications.

The integration is seamless, featuring standard G1/4-inch ports integrated directly into the stainless steel housing, secured by EPDM O-rings for reliable sealing. The hardware also includes standard ports, offering compatibility with existing custom loop setups.

While the focus is on thermal performance, users should be aware that the choice of material means the bare copper cold plates are subject to natural discoloration over time due to oxidation, a characteristic often embraced by enthusiasts as a sign of authentic, high-quality copper.

The Mycro Pro Stainless Steel blocks are now available for €99.90 each, making this advanced cooling technology a highly competitive option for anyone looking to upgrade their custom loop.
