Uncover the Ruined Homestead in Arc Raiders
Ready to expand your dominion in the harsh world of Arc Raiders? If you’re planning to construct a new outpost within a Sheltered Retreat, the first critical step involves capturing the history of the land. Forget simple interactions; now, to unlock this crucial phase of outpost building, you need to master the art of photography in the wild.
Your mission leads you to the Ruined Homestead, nestled in the south of the region by the Olive Grove—an area historically contested over precious lemons and olives. To complete this initial step, you must successfully take a photograph of any of the main farmland buildings in that vicinity.
But there’s a catch: the ability to capture these vital images requires a specific piece of gear. Unlike previous iterations of the game, taking photos is no longer a simple interaction. You must acquire a camera item before you can begin.
So, how do you equip the lens? There are several paths to obtaining your photographic equipment. You can purchase a camera directly from Shani for 1,900 credits. Alternatively, if you prefer the hands-on approach, you can craft one at the basic workbench using only eight pieces of Plastic Parts and one piece of Wire.
For those who enjoy adventuring for the reward, certain quests, such as the new Sizing Things Up, also offer a camera as a reward upon acceptance. Make sure to store your new camera securely in your safe pocket until you are ready for the shot.
Once you have your camera in hand, the process is straightforward. Head to the Ruined Homestead, equip your gear, aim your device at the desired structure, and initiate the capture. Simply aim with the right mouse button and then click with the left mouse button to snap the perfect picture.
Any of the main farm buildings in the area will serve as a valid target, making this stage surprisingly easy to complete. This new photographic mechanic adds a layer of tangible interaction to building your base, turning simple exploration into a deliberate, gear-dependent mission.
