Unlock CoD MW4 Beta rewards how long you can play
The hype train for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 continued to roll, but just as players were preparing to hit the finish line of the Open Beta weekend, the developers from Infinity Ward decided to extend the runway just a little longer. Giving the community a final chance to grind and claim their rewards, the extended Beta now runs until September 1st at 10 PM PT.
For those on the East Coast, that means the final clock ticks down to September 2nd at 1 AM ET. This extra time was all about ensuring everyone had ample opportunity to dive into the new content and unlock those exclusive items.
The Open Beta period was designed as a massive opportunity for players to test the waters and provide crucial feedback to Infinity Ward and the supporting studios. It offered a first hands-on experience with fresh gameplay, including the brand-new dynamic map Kill Block, alongside experimental modes like Hijack and Inflation, and an early look at new Ground War mechanics.
Furthermore, the Beta introduced players to the new Resurgence map, Zodiac, which is slated to arrive in Call of Duty: Warzone with Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4’s post-launch content. This was a perfect sandbox for testing the game’s evolution before the official launch.
To incentivize participation, players earned special Beta rewards. These weren’t just cosmetic unlocks; they included limited player emblems and weapon charms. The most sought-after prizes involved unlocking the Beta Operator Skin at Level 20, a weapon blueprint at Level 30, and a secret hidden weapon camo that required players to rack up 1500 kills during the Beta window.
Under the hood, the multiplayer experience featured two distinct matchmaking systems. Teams were pitted against each other using modified Skill-Based Matchmaking (SBMM) algorithms and the popular Open playlist. This decision sparked spirited debates within the community. While Infinity Ward maintains that SBMM improves player retention and satisfaction, many content creators argue that it unfairly punishes skilled players by pushing them into tougher lobbies.
Throughout the two live weekends, Infinity Ward continued to fine-tune the multiplayer environment, making frequent adjustments to weapon balancing and Time to Kill (TTK) in live patches. This commitment to iteration ensured that the game felt sharp and responsive.
With the Beta complete, the focus now shifts to the official launch. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to hit consoles and PC on October 23. For those who secure a pre-order, the excitement doesn’t have to wait, as they gain early access to the game’s campaign starting on October 16.
