WoW Forever reveal at BlizzCon
Blizzard Unveils World of Warcraft: Forever, Expanding the Vanilla Experience
Blizzard has thrown down a game-changing challenge for nostalgia enthusiasts with the announcement of World of Warcraft: Forever. This ambitious new project, developed by the Classic team, is set to revisit the original level-60 era of the game, but with a significant twist: it doesn’t just preserve the vanilla experience; it expands upon it.
While WoW Classic diligently maintains the pristine vanilla experience, Forever steps beyond preservation to introduce entirely new content set within that foundational first year of the game. Players will embark on an extended adventure exploring familiar landscapes and discovering brand new territories, including the iconic zone of Dalaran, alongside yet-to-be-revealed zones.
The expansion is rich and deep, ensuring that players won’t just be walking through old territory, but living a richer story. Existing zones from vanilla WoW have been meticulously reworked to support compelling new narrative content, adding depth and context to the world that veterans have long cherished.
Adding further flavor to this expanded era is the introduction of entirely new playable content. Adventurers can now join the world as the new playable race, the Skyborne Elves, bringing fresh aesthetics and gameplay mechanics to the fold.
This extended experience is packed with substantial features, underscoring its ambition to be a true continuation of the classic era. The package includes two raids, nine dungeons, and over 1000 quests, solidifying its position as a massive expansion of Vanilla WoW.
The countdown begins soon. World of Warcraft: Forever is scheduled to arrive on November 4th. Fans who want to dive in early can test the waters during BlizzCon, and those who miss the convention can look forward to a public beta rolling out next week.
