The quest for the perfect retro experience in World of Warcraft continues, and it seems the blue elves may not be the only additions awaiting the classic MMO. Blizzard has opened the floodgates, launching a player survey to gauge interest in a host of new classes that some long-time fans have been dreaming about for years.

Last week, the community got a sneak peek at the future of WoW: Forever via a poll hosted directly within the Battle.net launcher. Participants were invited to weigh in on a sprawling list of potential new classes, sparking immediate excitement and a little bit of protective anxiety among the community.

The resulting survey yielded a remarkable roster of concepts, including Monk, Demon Hunter, Tinker, Illusionist, San’layn, Necromancer, Rune Knight, Bard, Warden, Witch, and Death Knight. These aren’t just random names; they represent deeply considered concepts, each with proposed roles, unique gear, and fascinating abilities designed to weave new threads into the established lore.

Take the proposed Witch class, for instance. This concept imagines a unique blend of ranged damage and vital support, clad in practical cloth armor. Abilities like a cauldron that buffs allies or a ranged attack called “Voidbolt”—which drains the caster’s own life—suggest a deep tactical depth waiting to be explored.

Other suggestions, such as Bard and Tinker, highlight a desire for gameplay that merges social interaction with mechanical prowess. The vision here is compelling: Bards would perform songs to heal and buff the group, while Tinkers would pilot their own mechanical mechs into battle. These ideas hint at an expansion of the class system that rewards both social synergy and mechanical ingenuity.

The inclusion of returning classes also brings nostalgic comfort. Demon Hunter and Monk, for example, are suggested with familiar abilities, but with a fascinating twist. The survey clarified that these classes would feature familiar mechanics that wouldn’t exist in the current WoW experience, including Demon Hunters starting at level one instead of the customary level eight from the Midnight expansion.

While the outline for these new classes might seem brief, the level of detail suggests Blizzard is serious about these ideas. With the official release slated for November 4th, players are watching closely to see how these concepts translate into the game. There is an understandable tension among players, however, as some worry that adding new, powerful classes might disrupt the wholesome throwback experience that many cherish.

The community is keenly aware that the balance of the game is paramount. As players anticipate the official launch, they are holding their breath, waiting to see if Blizzard can deliver these exciting additions without sacrificing the beloved classic feel. The upcoming release promises to reveal just how far the world of WoW: Forever is willing to stretch its boundaries.
