When you look at CD Projekt, it feels like a studio perpetually juggling high-stakes fantasy epics, massive open worlds, and some quietly simmering, deeply mysterious concepts. Right now, the pipeline is absolutely buzzing with activity, moving from established blockbuster franchises like The Witcher 4 and the ongoing evolution of Cyberpunk 2, to fascinating, unseen projects that are shaping the future of the company.

While the massive sequels and remasters keep the mainstream appetite satisfied, the real intrigue often lies in the long-term, low-profile endeavors. Two projects, known only by their codenames, Sirius and Hadar, exemplify this creative appetite. Though their development times have been drawn out, the team is now moving toward tangible results, offering glimpses into what lies just beyond the headlines.

Take Sirius, for instance. This project began when CD Projekt acquired The Flame in the Flood, a studio known for its innovative work. Initially aimed at a new game based on The Witcher, the project navigated changes and eventually saw a reboot. While the original plan for The Molasses Flood to maintain its identity eventually came to an end, the legacy of the spinoff remains a living piece of the company’s creative DNA.

Despite the shift, the work continues. Sirius is currently undergoing pre-production, focusing intensely on testing various solutions and prototyping ideas, particularly focusing on making it a multiplayer experience. This focus on experimentation means the team is refining the core concepts, ensuring that whatever they build next has a solid foundation.

Then there is Hadar. This is an entirely new property, a blank canvas that promises to be an emotional, open-world experience similar in spirit to the depth of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2. While details are still being unveiled, the project is progressing dynamically. It has been in the works since 2021, currently residing in the concept phase, and the team is steadily building momentum.

The commitment to these projects is reflected in the team’s growth. Speaking about the scope of work, the team currently comprises over 30 developers and is planning to expand this force significantly, aiming to hire up to 50 developers by the end of the year. The current focus is squarely on prototyping gameplay elements and testing different creative approaches, culminating in a determined push toward realization.

It’s clear that while CD Projekt has the colossal responsibilities of delivering massive titles, there is an equally exciting chapter unfolding in the background. Whether it’s refining the mechanics of a multiplayer world like Sirius or building a brand-new emotional landscape like Hadar, the studio is demonstrating that creative exploration, even in the concept phase, is a powerful force.
