Finding New Armor and Weapons in Elden Ring Tarnished
The Tarnished Edition of Elden Ring has officially landed, and with it comes a thrilling influx of new content, starting classes, and weapons that promise to redefine the player’s journey across the Lands Between. For players eager to dive deeper into the lore and customize their combat style, this update isn’t just a patch—it’s a brand new path into the world of Elden Ring.
A major focus of the update is the introduction of two entirely new starting classes: the Idus Knight and the Heavy Knight. Choosing one of these new archetypes immediately grants access to unique armor sets and powerful weapons, offering fresh gameplay opportunities right from the start. Alternatively, players can acquire the set from the Nomadic Merchant in north Liurnia of the Lakes. The Idus Sword itself can be found by seeking a corpse resting against a tree in southern Liurnia of the Lakes, northwest of the Liurnia Lake Shore grace.
The Heavy Knight class offers equally compelling rewards. The corresponding armor set can be found in the Weeping Peninsula, and the Hefty Scimitar can be purchased from the Isolated Merchant in the Isolated Merchant’s Shack in the west of the Weeping Peninsula. If you opt to start as a Heavy Knight, these rewards come with the Hefty Scimitar.
Beyond the new classes, the Tarnished Edition significantly expands the base game arsenal with powerful DLC weapons, including the Backhand Blades, the Thrusting Shield, and the magnificent Great Katana. These additions provide new combat options immediately available to all players.
Exploration and epic encounters are also enhanced through spectacular additions like Leontiel. Defeating the formidable Starscourge Radahn at Caelid Castle opens up a dramatic path through the War-Dead Catacombs, where the powerful Leontiel invades, challenging the player to earn her armor and her mighty Greatsword.

By casting the Law of Regression in front of the statue of Radagon during Brother Corhyn’s questline in Leyndell, players can summon Broken Gold Mask. Defeating this powerful invader rewards the player with the mask, along with the Golden Order Flail, and other coveted items.

The Reed Great Katana, a blade from the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, can be discovered in Dragonbarrow, nestled near the gigantic Greyoll. Furthermore, the Ritual Thrusting Shield is hidden within the entrance room of the Caelid colosseum, requiring a journey through the Siofra River Well to locate.
And for those who love a quick, aggressive build, the Backhand Blades are readily available in the Roundtable Hold at the Twin Maiden Husks shop, meaning players can start their journey with a formidable weapon right from the beginning.
