Bring back Transformers games on Xbox

The digital nostalgia circuit is humming, and it’s pointed directly at the Xbox platform. A massive vote surge on the fan-run Xbox Game Preservation website has highlighted a potent demand: players want classic Transformers games playable on modern consoles through backward compatibility.

This isn’t just a casual request; it’s a major movement. With at least 58,489 votes, these games have claimed the title of the most-requested third-party franchise to be preserved on Xbox, trailing only the massive vote count for Skylanders, which boasts over 163,000 votes.

At the heart of this demand are three specific titles that fans are campaigning for revival: Transformers: War for Cybertron, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, and Transformers: Devastation. These games represent a fantastic blend of action and narrative, proving their enduring appeal.

Transformers: War for Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, released in 2010 and 2012 respectively, are celebrated as brilliant third-person shooters. They feature slick, engaging gameplay that cleverly mixed Gears of War-style gunplay with signature Transformers transformation mechanics—a perfect recipe for intense action.

Adding another layer of excitement is Transformers: Devastation (2015), which brought the high-octane insanity of combat to the forefront. This third-person beat-em-up applied the chaotic energy of titles like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta directly into the Transformers universe, offering an addictive and visceral combat experience.

The irony, however, is that these beloved experiences remain locked away. Unfortunately, these titles have been held hostage by older console generations and have not been re-released on modern systems or PC platforms, even more than a decade after their release. Furthermore, they have been delisted from digital stores, leaving players with only the challenging task of hunting down rare physical copies.

The true potential lies in the Xbox’s commitment to its Backward Compatibility program. If the platform can resurrect games like Blinx the Time Sweeper and Conker: Live and Reloaded, why shouldn’t it extend that capability to these iconic Transformers adventures? The community is clearly calling for a revival—a chance to bring these forgotten masterpieces to the Xbox Series X and S, and even PC, where they deserve to be played.
