Tired of the feeling that your favorite 3D printer is already outdated? Well, hold onto your filament—Prusa Research is proving that innovation isn’t just for new models; it’s about continuous evolution. The company has announced a massive wave of second-generation upgrades and a “+” designation for its entire lineup of 3D printers, bringing some seriously exciting features to the community.

This isn’t just a cosmetic refresh; it’s an effort to keep technology ahead of the curve. If you have a machine in the works, these improvements are automatic—meaning new orders will ship with the enhanced version at no extra cost. Prusa Research is clearly committed to rewarding its customers, ensuring that every piece of equipment keeps getting better over time.

But the real magic lies in customization. While some machines receive broad upgrades, owners will soon have access to upgrade kits, allowing them to pick and choose exactly what they want. These components will be available on the webstore by September, giving the community the power to personalize their build with pieces that truly matter.

One of the most highly requested additions is the nozzle wiper, a feature many users have been modding for. This essential upgrade is now being rolled out across several models, adding enhanced precision and functionality right out of the box.

The flagship XL printer is getting some truly bleeding-edge enhancements. It will receive the same 360-degree cooling system pioneered on newer models, alongside the INDX Tool Offset Sensor for super-accurate toolhead alignment. Furthermore, it’s integrating an eddy-current sensor that is twenty times faster and permanently mounted to the machine, dramatically simplifying tool changes. This update also brings compatibility with new silicone toolheads, opening up possibilities for exotic materials.

The Core One line is also seeing significant evolution. The Core One+ (Generation 2) will benefit from the nozzle wiper and GT1.5 belts alongside improved heatbed mounting. Meanwhile, the Core One L will receive those popular GT1.5 belts and the integrated nozzle wiper, making it even more refined.

For those pushing the boundaries of material science, an optional Hotend upgrade is also on the horizon. Available in September, this accessory unlocks materials like PEKK-CF and PPS-CF by allowing temperatures up to 400°C, catering directly to demanding engineering filaments that require higher melting points.

Beyond the hardware, Prusa Research is tackling the entire user experience. This upgrade extends into firmware and software with the upcoming release of Prusa Slicer 3.0, which promises a streamlined workflow. Furthermore, connecting your setup will become smoother with the introduction of Prusa Connect Local, replacing the older PrusaLink for easier LAN communication.

It’s clear that the journey of 3D printing is far from over. Prusa Research isn’t just selling machines; they are cultivating a community dedicated to continuous improvement, ensuring that every printer remains a cutting-edge tool for creation and design.
