Larian banned from YouTube TikTok for BG3 smut
When Baldur’s Gate 3 launched, it quickly established itself as a powerhouse of RPG storytelling. But beyond the masterful narrative and complex choices, the game also earned a reputation for being delightfully explicit—a fact that led to some spirited debates about its mature content.
To help bridge the gap between high fantasy and streamer-friendly viewing, developers introduced specialized modes designed to manage sensitive material. However, even these carefully constructed boundaries occasionally proved slippery, leading to a rather memorable incident during a recent broadcast.
Senior communications director Aofie Wilson was deep into a Dark Urge playthrough, exploring the depths of Act 3’s House of Hope. As she navigated this late-game dungeon, she encountered Harleep, an incubi figure Raphael keeps close—a character whose indulgences push boundaries quite far.
During her attempt to stream the experience in a modified setting, things took a sudden and unexpected turn. While playing the streamer-friendly mode, the uncensored nature of certain intimate moments briefly spilled over onto the broadcast. The moment was particularly striking as Harleep’s interactions became entirely unabashed, momentarily putting the studio staff in a state of delightful panic.
The disruption caused an immediate reaction. Larian’s team, ever the quick-witted group, responded by trying to restore order with a rather amusing solution: a golden d20, presented as the reward for an honour mode playthrough. This response, however, felt less like a reward and more like a lighthearted jab at the very concept of censorship.
The ensuing digital banter reflected the absurdity of the situation. Larian and publishing director Michael Douse found the whole episode quite funny, engaging in humorous exchanges about the incident across social media platforms. They seemed to share a laugh over the unexpected spectacle that unfolded live on stream.
Despite the momentary chaos, there was no permanent fallout for the game itself. Both Larian and the wider community maintained that the core content remained accessible. The streamer herself later summed up the experience by noting that at least they had managed to have a nice time.
