This new mode offers players a unique two-week window to explore the notoriously challenging Cryo Archive map and its intricate puzzles, completely free from the stress of extraction. Gone are the moments where teams must worry about twitchy, murderous squads hanging around; instead, players engage directly with the environment, focusing solely on mastering the hazards.

The core gameplay loop of Vault Breaker shifts Marathon away from its traditional extraction mechanics. Rather than hoarding gear during a run, participants now focus on looting Vault Data. This data fuels persistent upgrades to their initial kit or unlocks specialized gear that can be carried into standard excursions, injecting a satisfying roguelite framework into the gunplay experience.

Beyond the experimental mode, the update addresses quality-of-life concerns through several thoughtful adjustments. The Cradle upgrade system now includes an option to evolve fully-leveled Crawlers. This feature allows careerist runners to reset their progress in exchange for a higher energy limit, giving them more flexibility in equipping powerful upgrades.

To ensure a healthier community experience, Bungie has also implemented new voice moderation and reporting systems designed to effectively curb in-game chat toxicity, making the sandbox environment more pleasant for all players.
