Thermalright unveils low-profile reverse-fan CPU coolers

In the world of compact PC building, where every millimeter counts, thermal efficiency is king. Enter Thermalright, which has just dropped two brilliant new low-profile top-flow CPU coolers designed to squeeze incredible cooling performance into the smallest systems: the AXP120-X77 and the AXP120-X77R.

These new coolers aren’t just small; they are smart. Both models boast a sleek 77mm height and utilize six 6mm heat pipes, proving that high-performance cooling doesn’t require a massive footprint. The true innovation lies in how they manage airflow and heat dissipation, offering builders a choice based on their specific case design.

The two models share the same sophisticated heatsink design, but they diverge in fan placement. The standard AXP120-X77 offers the conventional top-flow setup, mounting the 15mm-thick TL-B12015 EX fan directly on top of the fin stack. This configuration provides a traditional, straightforward cooling solution.

However, for those facing tight vertical clearance challenges, the AXP120-X77R offers a reverse-mounted configuration. By placing the fan underneath the fins, this model achieves the same slim 77mm profile while optimizing the space directly above the cooler. This clever design lets users prioritize physical space without sacrificing thermal performance.

Regardless of the mounting style, both coolers deliver impressive performance metrics. They are equipped with a TL-B12015 EX fan capable of speeds up to 3150RPM. In terms of actual cooling ability, the coolers achieve an impressive airflow of 83.61CFM and a static pressure of 3.4mmAq. Furthermore, they maintain a relatively quiet operational profile, with a noise output of just 37.07dB(A).

Thermalright has ensured broad compatibility for these compact champions. The cooler support spans a wide range of modern platforms, including Intel LGA115x, 1200, 1700, 1851, and 20xx sockets, as well as both AMD AM4 and AM5 chipsets. This means builders with virtually any modern CPU have access to this high-efficiency, space-saving technology.

These coolers are a fantastic solution for anyone looking to maximize cooling potential in small form factor builds. They prove that even in the smallest enclosures, achieving robust thermal performance is entirely possible, offering both classic and reverse-flow options for the modern compact machine.
