The wait is almost over for Endless Legend 2, a title that has captivated players since its early access launch. Now, as the game prepares to shed its development shackles and debut in its full 1.0 form, anticipation is mounting around the highly anticipated release date.

Mark your calendars: on September 17th, players will be able to begin their conquest of Saiadha in earnest. This launch isn’t just about new gameplay; it’s about a massive injection of faction diversity and unique narrative hooks that promise deep, planet-spanning quests and strategic challenges.

The final major faction slated for introduction on launch is the Sandshapers. These ambitious civilization aim to transform the planet’s rather damp marble into a dry desert, setting a unique goal for players focused on terraforming and environmental manipulation.

Adding further flavor are new minor factions designed in conjunction with the community. Among them is the Mangrove of Harmony, a delightful spin based on starfish mythology, complete with its own hero, questline, recruitable units, and unique pops. While some may object to the theme, these additions inject genuine variety into the galaxy.

Perhaps the most intriguing development is the introduction of rogue factions—splinter groups with their own bespoke stories, quests, and mechanics. At launch, players will encounter two highly specialized splinter groups: the Order of Zelevas, offering a conquest-loving twist on the Kin of Sheredyn, and The Severed Claw, a Necrophage offshoot capable of enslaving other factions.

While some early critiques focused on combat mechanics, the foundation of greatness was already apparent in the unfinished state. As the team pushes toward the 1.0 release, there is keen excitement to see how much Amplitude has refined these systems, promising an even deeper and more polished experience for all players.

Get ready for alien weirdos and epic planet-spanning quests. With a few months left until launch, players have ample time to decide which faction will lead their destiny across the stars.
